All you have to do is unpack this saw to know you no longer have another one of those throw aways.  I use it for making long cuts (mostly 8 ft) in 3/4 inch hardwood plycor plywood.  This saw simply does not bog down even when pushing it hard.  It does not overheat and it does not make that high pitched whine that most saws make.  It looks like quality, feels like quality, and performs like a true champion.  And for the first time, I can actually see where the blade is without craning my neck over the saw.  It is a keeper
However, there are plenty of sidewinder circular saws that will stand the test of time even for someone who uses them on a daily basis. There are probably more than a few people who would love to slap me for this, but for the average homeowner I just can’t see owning a worm drive circular saw over a sidewinder. For that reason, no worm drive saws are on this list.

Workers using a router can shape decorative edges, form raised panels, cut grooves and slots, carve signs, make moldings, rout intricate inlays, trim plastic laminate and veneers, and mill dozens of woodworking joints, including rabbets, dovetails and mortises. And while the best router is handheld for most operations, it can also be mounted in a router table, creating a small stationary shaper. Bosch CS5 Dust Collection

All of us who are into construction or woodworking have our own reasons for buying a good circular saw. We may use it for making pieces of furniture, or for heavy duty construction. As such, we require this kind of saw that strikes a good balance in all of the aforementioned criteria. CS5 Bosch Circular Saw
Milwaukee got its start in 1924 with their first version of a portable, ¼-inch drill known as the Hole-Shooter. Milwaukee is a brand perhaps best known for their professional quality, heavy duty tools but they’ve also made their mark in the world of tools by innovation of new products such as the Sawzall, revolutionizing the 7 ¼-inch circular saw, and being the first to utilize Lithium-Ion batteries to power their tools. A sidewinder is basically a direct-drive circular saw with the motor in line with the gearing, so the blade spins faster and the saw is more compact. The blade on a sidewinder is usually on the right (the Bosch CS5 is a sidewinder designed specifically to have the blade on the left). Sidewinders bring higher rpm but lower torque than worm drive construction saws.

Before I made the decision to buy the Bosch CS5, I first did some research regarding which are the top electric circular saw in the market. I looked everywhere. I watched videos on YouTube, read product descriptions and reviews, and I even read the feedbacks the customers who purchased the product. According to one customer, he was more than satisfy with the Bosch CS5 not only in terms of its build, but also its performance. Bosch CS5 Review
We gave this saw top score for its no nonsense, to the point design. It has all the most important features without the extra fuss and hassle of unnecessary bits and bobs. Its left hand design was enjoyed by both left and right handed users and although it is the fastest circular saw in its class, it still has a very competitive price. Here are a few other features worth mentioning. Bosch CS5 7-1/4-In Circular Saw
When one of these drills is jammed – put into a bind-up situation – applying power to the motor will not free the bit. Some of these new cordless tools have power to spare, and sudden high-torque movements rotate the drill … and the operator's wrists and arms. This at the least is tiring. It can be dangerous. Sometime the tool will twist out of the user's hand, swing around and hit the operator or someone close to the tool, causing bodily harm. Bosch CS5 Manual

I bought the battery version of this "left" circular saw and decided I needed more power for the multiple (over 50 sheets) of 3/4 plywood and OSB to cut. ( I know, very unrealistic and naive from my part) and got the Cs10 (blade on the right and hated it. You can't see what the blade is doing, or if it's flexing or anything, just like with every other saw I guess! But not with this one.

Bosch is entering a new category with left blade design at the best value! CS5 is a tool for value conscious professionals focusing on core user needs. If you follow cordless tools, you’ll know that they rarely stay on the market more than a year without some sort of update. But some of the circular saws have been out more than 15 years and are still chewing up wood reliably. While not every saw we looked at takes home a top recommendation, each have their place. Whether it’s new construction or maintenance, many jobs require drilling holes in concrete. Selecting the right tool for the job is critical, but making the right choice can be complicated. Types of tools, bit holding systems and drill bit types, as well as nature of the job that needs to be done and availability of electric power – these are some of the variables that need to be taken into consideration.
