However, there are plenty of sidewinder circular saws that will stand the test of time even for someone who uses them on a daily basis. There are probably more than a few people who would love to slap me for this, but for the average homeowner I just can’t see owning a worm drive circular saw over a sidewinder. For that reason, no worm drive saws are on this list.
While they sound cool and are fun to brag about, I haven’t personally found them more than slightly useful for setting up a cut initially. Not only are they only nominally accurate, but once I’ve begun cutting, I’m too focused on paying attention to the guide on the shoe to really be able to use the laser. Combine that with accuracy problems on the lasers and I personally don’t get a lot of mileage out of them.
This is a great feature because often we assume once we’ve released the trigger the saw is no longer running and therefore no longer dangerous. It’s really easy to put your hands in the wrong place or to set the saw down while the blade is still moving, and that’s an ugly scenario. An electric brake will drastically reduce the chances of this happening.

Lots of experienced woodworkers name the router as one of most versatile power tools. Workers using a router can shape decorative edges, form raised panels, cut grooves and slots, carve signs, make moldings, rout intricate inlays, trim plastic laminate and veneers, and mill dozens of woodworking joints, including rabbets, dovetails and mortises. And while the best router is handheld for most operations, it can also be mounted in a router table, creating a small stationary shaper.
The best circular saw overall is the Makita 5007MGA. It doesn’t have everything we’re looking for (most of us are blade-left guys), but it has all the other key components. It blends fast blade speed with deep cutting and takes advantage of magnesium to come in well under 11 pounds. On the feature side, it has the blade brake we consider a requirement for top Pro consideration, solid construction, 56 degrees of beveling with stops, and a cutline blower. Bosch CS5 Manual
All you have to do is unpack this saw to know you no longer have another one of those throw aways. I use it for making long cuts (mostly 8 ft) in 3/4 inch hardwood plycor plywood. This saw simply does not bog down even when pushing it hard. It does not overheat and it does not make that high pitched whine that most saws make. It looks like quality, feels like quality, and performs like a true champion. And for the first time, I can actually see where the blade is without craning my neck over the saw. It is a keeper Bosch CS5 Saw
Considering the best circular saw is a little easier than breaking down the incredible number of cordless saws out there, but most brands still have most than one model on the market. We chose only saws that have a 15-amp motor for consideration and went with the newest models from there. We looked at blade speed, watts out or horsepower (where available), bevel capacity and stops, blade orientation, other features, construction, and price. Bosch CS5 Circular Saw
When one of these drills is jammed – put into a bind-up situation – applying power to the motor will not free the bit. Some of these new cordless tools have power to spare, and sudden high-torque movements rotate the drill … and the operator's wrists and arms. This at the least is tiring. It can be dangerous. Sometime the tool will twist out of the user's hand, swing around and hit the operator or someone close to the tool, causing bodily harm.

It comes with 4 guides to accommodate almost all circular saws, is reversible and has detailed measuring scales accommodating lumber up to 10 inches from the edge. It will also fit any jig saw and has a circle compass so you can cut circles in wood. So if you’ve already got a jig saw, this may be handy one day. Bosch CS5 Review
If you’ve ever done tuckpointing, or most other masonry grinding applications for that matter, then it’s no mystery how much hassle it is to clean up the aftermath – let alone work through the cloud of dust these grinders can cause. Grinding applications, especially with concrete, also can create health risks that should be taken seriously. General recommendations range from wearing a certified respirator to providing exhaust ventilation to employing a dust collection system on the jobsite. OSHA regulations in place to ensure proper dust extraction equipment is used and precautions are taken to reduce exposure to dust. CS5 Bosch

I have really enjoyed my new circular saw since my skil saw bit the dust. I have remodeled a commercial office, and built some wainscoting with it and can now give it favorable reviews. I like the left blade for better sight of your cut line. I has plenty of power, and is easy to use. It follows a clamp-and-cut straight edge well, and easily breaks down sheet goods for cutting at the tablesaw. It doesn’t have a safety switch on the trigger, but I always use the blade guard so it wo...
I bought the CS5 Circular Saw in May of 2015, and after two months of sporadic use the carbon brushes and armature needed to be replaced. It was repaired -- under warranty -- at the Bosch service facility in Anaheim, California. After another two months of normal / typical use, the carbon brushes and armature need to be replaced again. WTF? Is there an issue with the quality of the components Bosch uses for this particular saw? For five months of ownership and use, I expected something a bit more reliable. Not many choices for blade-left circular saws that are affordable, so I'll get this CS5 fixed again while it's under warranty.
