Most Pros are pretty set in their ways when it comes to blade-left or blade-right circular saws. And it’s not simply a “righties want blade-left and lefties want blade-right” discussion. Clint and I are both righties – I prefer blade-left and he prefers blade-right. However, direct drive (sidewinder) circular saws like these are traditionally blade-right, but a few are bucking the trend. So whichever you like, here’s a quick list of where each one falls.

This saw is designed for smooth and accurate cutting every time. The upper and lower guards are both made from lightweight aluminum which means sturdiness without the added weight. The on-tool wrench storage ensures that you are equipped to change blades whenever necessary. The anti-snag lower guard allows you to make smooth finish cuts without snagging or hooking sheet material.

When beginning your search for the best circular saw for you, there is one thing you will notice right away…the distinctions between circular saws aren’t always obvious. You can find one circular saw and think “looks good to me”, and right next to it is another and nothing seems noticeably different. Yet, there is a one hundred dollar price difference. A few users have commented on this model being slightly noisy, but interestingly most of those mentioned it in passing, not as a criticism since they were so pleased with the performance. In fact ICe went on to say “it is kind of noisy but hey, better to hear the power on this monster that to have a wimpy quiet one right? ^_^ Buy it, you wont regret it. ”

If you’ve ever done tuckpointing, or most other masonry grinding applications for that matter, then it’s no mystery how much hassle it is to clean up the aftermath – let alone work through the cloud of dust these grinders can cause. Grinding applications, especially with concrete, also can create health risks that should be taken seriously. General recommendations range from wearing a certified respirator to providing exhaust ventilation to employing a dust collection system on the jobsite. OSHA regulations in place to ensure proper dust extraction equipment is used and precautions are taken to reduce exposure to dust.
I bought this saw because I wanted the left hand blade that you traditionally get with trim saws but I wanted a framing size. My first impressions when opening the box was that there were some small chips out of the plate and some scuffs on the housing. I was not thrilled but this does not affect the performance of the saw, which is quit well. I just ripped some mdf to try it out and it was great. I have a big deck job coming up and will put the saw though it paces. Overall a pretty good saw for the money and if you want a left hand framer without buying a worm drive saw.
The saw has good run out (the blade doesn't wobble), has plenty of power and will cut a perfectly straight line freehand using the blade mark on the base. If you try to use a guide like a square, the front and rear corners of the base cause the saw to deviate from a straight line. If they would have put a descent plate on this saw, it would be a 5 star.
Bosch Speed Clean drill bits are code approved and meet OSHA standards for adhesive anchoring. Bosch has engineered the bit using a solid piece of steel with a dust channel milled to exacting specifications. It extracts dust while drilling, creating 25 percent greater drilling speed. Speed Clean is an important part of the PRO+GUARD™ dust system that helps users move toward compliance with the OSHA silica regulation. The bit life is comparable to the life of Bosch Bulldog™ SDS-plus® or Bosch SpeedX® SDS-max® bits. Be sure to watch the video to find out how Speed Clean works. Bosch CS5 Price
When it comes to studs, instead of automatically buying wood, consider metal. According to the Steel Framing Alliance, more than 40 percent of commercial structures are now built with steel framing and nearly 500,000 homes have been built with steel framing over the past decade. The best tool for fasteners in working with metal studs is an impact driver. Bosch CS5 Manual

The DeWalt DWE575SB is an very light saw at only 8.8 lbs and powerful reaching up to 5,100 RPM. It will also make bevel cuts up to 57° with stops at 22.5° and 45°. The cutting depth is tops too at 2.55 inches at 90° and 1.9 inches at 45°. But perhaps one of the best features is the electric brake which will quickly bring the blade to a halt when the trigger is released. Bosch CS5 120-Volt 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw
This is a great feature because often we assume once we’ve released the trigger the saw is no longer running and therefore no longer dangerous. It’s really easy to put your hands in the wrong place or to set the saw down while the blade is still moving, and that’s an ugly scenario. An electric brake will drastically reduce the chances of this happening.
I was very disappointed in the blade depth locking mechanism and the baseplate as well with it's curved bottom edge making it hard to run against a thin straight edge. Because of the locking mechanism there's no strength between the saw and the base. Loved my left handed Porter Cable much better but couldn't find one. I own many quality Bosch tools but this one is not in their league. Bosch CS5 120-Volt 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw

Can a saw be sporty? That's how this feels to me when I'm using it. It's pretty basic as far as features and it's also very well thought out. I do wish it had the same baseplate and positive detents on depth and angle adjustments as the CS10 but those are not in any way a hinderance to the saw. Everything seems to be in just the right place with the controls and handles. A left blade saw for right hand user is a really nice feature for the way I cut. In fact, I sometimes hold right blade saws left handed when using them for cuts. I don't have any problems with the dust chute blowing dust onto me because I happen to stand behind where it blows on shorter cutting situations and I stand directly to the side of the saw in longer ripping and crosscutting situations such as making cuts on sheet goods and then the dust blows more behind me. Either way, it blows the dust more downward than most saws I've used.
Wood router tools provide power and maximum control. That is especially true for palm routers, a class of woodworking tools that many may know as laminate trimmers. The Bosch PR20EVSPK Colt™ 1.0 HP Palm Router is a router tool that is a variable speed model, and the kit includes a plunge base to make it a handy and extremely versatile tool. It can handle many routing tasks just this side of a router table.
The Bosch CS5 120-Volt 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw is an excellent investment considering all the features that it offers the users, as well as its build quality. As a circular saw, it gives you all the power you need and more. As a bonus the manufacturer--Bosch--is well-known for its excellent after sales support. Never do you have to worry about not getting help in the even that you encounter an issue with your Bosch CS5.

One real complaint; when you're cutting right-handed, the dust is directed right into your shoes and nailbags. The blade-left saw doesn't have a Bosch dust chute accessory available, and this saw really needs one. When you're cutting a post from right to left, the dust is projected straight up, into your face and eyes. Bosch needs a dust chute for the CS-5. I tried the dust chute for cs-10 and cs20, but it doesn't really attach to the CS-5 without major modification. It's a short-coming.

Reliable power and nearly infinite runtime. Choosing the best circular saw isn’t always easy, and there’s more to consider than just specs. So we got together with our Pros to do the shopping for you with our Pro Tool Reviews Best Circular Saw Buying Guide.

It might be easy to search for various brands and models that are available but finding the right brand can be a bit hard. The CS5 and the CS10 both made by Bosch are considered to be a couple of the best power saws in the market right now but between the two, which one should people choose? This article will compare the two saws to help people make the right choice. CS5 Bosch
Finally, a word on using the line guide. For a normal 90° cut, you should use the left side of the notch as shown here in the diagram. For bevel cuts within the range 45° to 56° you should use the right side. Because saw blades vary in type and thickness, I strongly urge you to make a sample cut on a scrap piece of lumber to check the line of cut you’ll actually get. And remember, face the good side of the lumber down to ensure minimum splintering.
