The jobsite radio or worksite portable sound system category is now one where, instead of the old portable CD player, users are able to get durable boomboxes with pumped up sounds connected to their MP3 players or phones for stored music or internet radio. And according to the reviewers in the field, none is tougher or sounds better than the cordless, portable Bosch PB360S Power Box Jobsite Radio and Charger.
I love the left side view of the blade and will only buy this style in the future even if I have to accept a complete saw-dusting of my clothes. I spent a good amount of time cutting specially ordered tough 1" Baltic Birch plywood using a Freud 60T blade and the power is fine for about 1" per second. While overall this saw is good for the home user I think the quality is lacking for the more picky. The problem is that there is considerable flex in the platform (even with the set screw adjusted) and there is about 0.5mm of play in the motor shaft which translates into much more play at blade edge. Even at this price such slop in the motor seems excessive. I am admittedly looking for more precision since I am finding a circular saw with a good self made rip fence to be superior to my table saw. If I could make the purchase again I would perhaps look at the Bosch 1677MD to see if the precision is better.
One real complaint; when you're cutting right-handed, the dust is directed right into your shoes and nailbags. The blade-left saw doesn't have a Bosch dust chute accessory available, and this saw really needs one. When you're cutting a post from right to left, the dust is projected straight up, into your face and eyes. Bosch needs a dust chute for the CS-5. I tried the dust chute for cs-10 and cs20, but it doesn't really attach to the CS-5 without major modification. It's a short-coming.
