If you’ve ever done tuckpointing, or most other masonry grinding applications for that matter, then it’s no mystery how much hassle it is to clean up the aftermath – let alone work through the cloud of dust these grinders can cause. Grinding applications, especially with concrete, also can create health risks that should be taken seriously. General recommendations range from wearing a certified respirator to providing exhaust ventilation to employing a dust collection system on the jobsite. OSHA regulations in place to ensure proper dust extraction equipment is used and precautions are taken to reduce exposure to dust. CS5 Bosch

You’ll find a circular saw in nearly every Pros arsenal. Corded models offer nearly infinite power as long as electricity is hooked up or there’s a generator nearby. And with most models offering a 15-amp motor, you get reliably solid power. Even the DIY models can make an effective cut with decent speed using an excellent blade. Around the country, these benefits make Pros keep choosing the cord over cordless convenience. Plus, corded tools don’t force you to stick with one brand’s battery platform – you can get the best tool in each class no matter who makes it.

Bosch CS5 120-Volt 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw

The saw has good run out (the blade doesn't wobble), has plenty of power and will cut a perfectly straight line freehand using the blade mark on the base. If you try to use a guide like a square, the front and rear corners of the base cause the saw to deviate from a straight line. If they would have put a descent plate on this saw, it would be a 5 star.

This circular saw features a 15 amp motor which gives it more than enough power to easily saw through dense materials.  It makes easy work of plywood as thick as ¾ inches and the new improved spindle lock feature allows for quick and easy blade changes for any type of sheet material application. Blade rotation speed of 6,200RPM with no load present and its 7-1/4 inch blade is powered by 120V.

The best circular saw overall is the Makita 5007MGA. It doesn’t have everything we’re looking for (most of us are blade-left guys), but it has all the other key components. It blends fast blade speed with deep cutting and takes advantage of magnesium to come in well under 11 pounds. On the feature side, it has the blade brake we consider a requirement for top Pro consideration, solid construction, 56 degrees of beveling with stops, and a cutline blower. Bosch CS5 Manual

Why worm drive over a traditional circular saw? I’ll tell you why. Because it’s finally affordable to have a circular saw that is super tough and has the torque to make those difficult cuts. Because why choose a weaker circular saw when you can have a workhorse worm drive circular saw for a comparable price. The SKILSAW SPT77WML Circular Saw is a no-brainer really. CS5 Bosch

One real complaint; when you're cutting right-handed, the dust is directed right into your shoes and nailbags. The blade-left saw doesn't have a Bosch dust chute accessory available, and this saw really needs one. When you're cutting a post from right to left, the dust is projected straight up, into your face and eyes. Bosch needs a dust chute for the CS-5. I tried the dust chute for cs-10 and cs20, but it doesn't really attach to the CS-5 without major modification. It's a short-coming.

The Milwaukee 6394 goes toe-to-toe with Makita – even in price. It falters slightly with lower (but still adequate) cutting depth and doesn’t have a cutline blower. The pivoting handle is compelling, but our team doesn’t think it’s a huge difference-maker in the long run. At the end of the day, it’s a quality choice, especially if you find it on sale. Can a saw be sporty? That's how this feels to me when I'm using it. It's pretty basic as far as features and it's also very well thought out. I do wish it had the same baseplate and positive detents on depth and angle adjustments as the CS10 but those are not in any way a hinderance to the saw. Everything seems to be in just the right place with the controls and handles. A left blade saw for right hand user is a really nice feature for the way I cut. In fact, I sometimes hold right blade saws left handed when using them for cuts. I don't have any problems with the dust chute blowing dust onto me because I happen to stand behind where it blows on shorter cutting situations and I stand directly to the side of the saw in longer ripping and crosscutting situations such as making cuts on sheet goods and then the dust blows more behind me. Either way, it blows the dust more downward than most saws I've used.
As mentioned by other users, the baseplate seems a little flimsy. Constructed of magnesium, along with curved edges, the plate just doesn’t have the same feel and control as a flat piece of steel. The guide marks on the plate aren’t very accurate either. I’ve found that I don’t use them at all anymore because I can see my line right in front of me. In Bosch’s defense, steel plates get rusty and circular saws aren’t used for their accuracy like in cabinet-making and finish carpentry where 1/64 can ruin a project. This is where another ¼ star gets deducted.
I bought the CS5 Circular Saw in May of 2015, and after two months of sporadic use the carbon brushes and armature needed to be replaced. It was repaired -- under warranty -- at the Bosch service facility in Anaheim, California. After another two months of normal / typical use, the carbon brushes and armature need to be replaced again. WTF? Is there an issue with the quality of the components Bosch uses for this particular saw? For five months of ownership and use, I expected something a bit more reliable. Not many choices for blade-left circular saws that are affordable, so I'll get this CS5 fixed again while it's under warranty. Bosch CS5 Circular Saw Review

Before I made the decision to buy the Bosch CS5, I first did some research regarding which are the top electric circular saw in the market. I looked everywhere. I watched videos on YouTube, read product descriptions and reviews, and I even read the feedbacks the customers who purchased the product. According to one customer, he was more than satisfy with the Bosch CS5 not only in terms of its build, but also its performance. Bosch CS5 Review

Although the 7-1/4-Inch circ saw cannot be considered as a low priced tool, many buyers have said that the price is a bargain considering the features that it offers. Here is an unbiased review of the left blade circular saw to help you decide whether buying it is the right move for you.
Bosch PRO+GUARD™ dust solutions are designed to help you move toward compliance with the OSHA silica dust regulation. But, there is a bonus. Namely, managing dust can boost productivity. An example is that Bosch dust extractors keep the air cleaner by using HEPA filters that capture 99.97 percent of dust particles. Bosch Speed Clean dust-extraction drill bits, when used to set adhesive anchors, reduce installation time but up to 50 percent. The key is using a comprehensive dust-management system. Check out the video to learn more about how the end-to-end solution can work for you. Bosch CS5 Saw
Dust collection has become a big issue, with OSHA looking closely at silica dust regulations. (You can read a primer about concrete grinding and OSHA here.) And, according to Cop Tool and Jay Amstutz, Bosch has a great new solution with the CSG15 Concrete Surfacing Grinder with Dedicated Dust Collection Shroud. The Bosch CSG15 is a next-generation surface grinder, replacing the Bosch 1773AK.

I was very disappointed in the blade depth locking mechanism and the baseplate as well with it's curved bottom edge making it hard to run against a thin straight edge. Because of the locking mechanism there's no strength between the saw and the base. Loved my left handed Porter Cable much better but couldn't find one. I own many quality Bosch tools but this one is not in their league.
One of the best things about the Bosch CS5 Power Saw is its left-blade design. There are a lot of people who do not realize this yet but the main reason why the blade is on the left side is because it will be easier for people, particularly those who are right handed to make use of the blade when they are working. It worked so well for me so I am sure that those who are going to make use of that too will also find it easy. Bosch CS5 Review

The Bosch SDS-plus® Bulldog™ Xtreme Rotary Hammer Bit provides 25% more holes per charge, thanks to an upgraded variable flute design. Four flutes transfer dust away faster, keeping the hole cleaner before transitioning to a two-flute design for speed. It also boasts a 100% carbide tip design and proprietary diffusion-bonding technology, for 4X life in concrete with rebar. The Bosch HDC100 dust attachment accommodates bits up to 8” in total length and 3/4” in diameter. It is part of the Bosch PRO+GUARD™ dust system that helps users move toward compliance with the OSHA silica regulation. For more info, check out the video.
This saw is designed for smooth and accurate cutting every time. The upper and lower guards are both made from lightweight aluminum which means sturdiness without the added weight. The on-tool wrench storage ensures that you are equipped to change blades whenever necessary. The anti-snag lower guard allows you to make smooth finish cuts without snagging or hooking sheet material.

The DeWalt DWE575SB is an very light saw at only 8.8 lbs and powerful reaching up to 5,100 RPM. It will also make bevel cuts up to 57° with stops at 22.5° and 45°. The cutting depth is tops too at 2.55 inches at 90° and 1.9 inches at 45°. But perhaps one of the best features is the electric brake which will quickly bring the blade to a halt when the trigger is released. Bosch CS5 Dust Collection
The saw worked to perfection, I used it in combination with the Kreg Rip-Cut tool to get great straight cuts on my plywood and longer sections. I used it in concert with a sawhorse and some clamps to get great angled cuts. This tool can essentially replace a table saw and miter saw for "simpler" projects. I would saw that if one had a small budget, that the circular saw should be the first tool that you purchase. It is the tool that gives you the most bang for your buck.
Bosch Speed Clean drill bits are code approved and meet OSHA standards for adhesive anchoring. Bosch has engineered the bit using a solid piece of steel with a dust channel milled to exacting specifications. It extracts dust while drilling, creating 25 percent greater drilling speed. Speed Clean is an important part of the PRO+GUARD™ dust system that helps users move toward compliance with the OSHA silica regulation. The bit life is comparable to the life of Bosch Bulldog™ SDS-plus® or Bosch SpeedX® SDS-max® bits. Be sure to watch the video to find out how Speed Clean works.
All you have to do is unpack this saw to know you no longer have another one of those throw aways.  I use it for making long cuts (mostly 8 ft) in 3/4 inch hardwood plycor plywood.  This saw simply does not bog down even when pushing it hard.  It does not overheat and it does not make that high pitched whine that most saws make.  It looks like quality, feels like quality, and performs like a true champion.  And for the first time, I can actually see where the blade is without craning my neck over the saw.  It is a keeper Bosch CS5 Saw
As mentioned earlier, one of the things that Bosch boasts about their CS5 is the left blade design. This robust, and simply powerful machine makes it more convenient and easier usually for right-handed users. This feature allows the cutter to have a direct line of sight whenever cutting, which means it is less prone to accidents, and its precision is unmatched.
Cut through plywood and other pieces of lumber easily using the 7 1/4-Inch 15 A Left Blade Circular Saw from Bosch. It runs on a powerful, high-output 15-Amp motor that reaches no-load speeds of up to 6200 rpm. Featuring a lightweight design, it is easy to handle and operate as you cut through plywood as thick as 3/4 of an inch. The blade is positioned on the left side of the Bosch 15-Amp circular saw, increasing visibility during work. The Spindle Lock allows for quick and easy blade changes using the included wrench, which fits into a built-in storage space. An adjustable bevel and aluminum lower guard enable angled cuts and prevent snags. With conveniently accessible and replaceable brushes, this lightweight circular saw is easy to maintain. The soft handle provides a comfortable grip. Bosch CS5 Rip Fence
When one of these drills is jammed – put into a bind-up situation – applying power to the motor will not free the bit. Some of these new cordless tools have power to spare, and sudden high-torque movements rotate the drill … and the operator's wrists and arms. This at the least is tiring. It can be dangerous. Sometime the tool will twist out of the user's hand, swing around and hit the operator or someone close to the tool, causing bodily harm.
Before starting a cut, it is important to set the proper blade depth since it will minimize kickback. The tool is equipped with a depth adjustment lever that will enable you to easily adjust the depth of cut. When the blade is set at 45 degrees, it offers 1-7/8 inches depth of cut. At 50 degrees you get 1-5/8″ maximum cut. The depth of cut at 90 degrees is 2-7/16″. CS5 Bosch
