So, all the 6 ½-inch and 7 ¼ -inch saws will be able to make a cut through a 2-inch piece of lumber at 90°. Things get a little trickier when we talk about beveled cuts. At 45° all the 7 ¼-inch saws will make it through with some room to spare but 6 ½-inch saws are cutting it really close. Literally. If you have a saw that goes beyond 45°, it can be hit or miss as to whether or not you’ll be able to make that cut in 2x material.

Another thing to consider is the functionality of the saw. Is the safety mechanism of the saw appropriate? Is the operating mechanism easy to access? When you cut wood, the shavings and dust will go spewing everywhere. Does the saw offer a dust chute to prevent those shavings and dust from going to your face? These are just some of the questions you need to ask before picking the right circular saw for you. Bosch CS5 Review

If you’ve ever done tuckpointing, or most other masonry grinding applications for that matter, then it’s no mystery how much hassle it is to clean up the aftermath – let alone work through the cloud of dust these grinders can cause. Grinding applications, especially with concrete, also can create health risks that should be taken seriously. General recommendations range from wearing a certified respirator to providing exhaust ventilation to employing a dust collection system on the jobsite. OSHA regulations in place to ensure proper dust extraction equipment is used and precautions are taken to reduce exposure to dust. CS5 Bosch
The best circular saw overall is the Makita 5007MGA. It doesn’t have everything we’re looking for (most of us are blade-left guys), but it has all the other key components. It blends fast blade speed with deep cutting and takes advantage of magnesium to come in well under 11 pounds. On the feature side, it has the blade brake we consider a requirement for top Pro consideration, solid construction, 56 degrees of beveling with stops, and a cutline blower.
When selecting a circular saw, the first thing that you have to think about is what will you use it for. Of course you will use it for cutting materials. But what kind of materials will you be cutting most often. You surely don't need a metal saw if majority of the materials that you will be working on is wood. There's a power output difference between the circular saws for wood and the ones for metal. Obviously, you will require more power in cutting metal compared to wood. So before buying, think of how you will use it and what you will use it for.
Hitachi is one of those brands you didn’t realize was into making power tools and then you realize that not only do they make them, but they make some great tools. Hitachi was originally founded in 1948 manufacturing coal mining machinery and electric power tools. Since then, they’ve grown their tool lineup to include pneumatics, metalworking, woodworking, drills, saws, and much more. Bosch CS5 Rip Fence
If you follow cordless tools, you’ll know that they rarely stay on the market more than a year without some sort of update. But some of the circular saws have been out more than 15 years and are still chewing up wood reliably. While not every saw we looked at takes home a top recommendation, each have their place. I knew this saw was worth buying after I made my first two cuts with it. It has amazing power, and is very precise. I had to adjust to using a left sided saw on my first cut, but after the second I was positive I had purchased an excellent tool. I used to always try to cut in a position that I would be able to clearly see my line. It doesnt make sense to switch boards around or dance around my sawhorses trying to see. I will never have to waste time moving around or leaning over my saw again. The only thing I absolutely hate about the saw is that it does not have any sort of carrying case. I really think it should have come with something considering it wasn't a cheap saw. I don't like having to worry about where I store it in my work van. If it had a nice plastic case I would never have to think twice about where I put it. If it were a junk saw I wouldn't care if it got a little dinged up because I wouldn't expect it to last anyway. A saw of this caliber absolutely needs a case.

OSHA has proposed regulations that would raise standards of exposure for airborne crystalline silica, also known as silica dust. As Lauren Hunter of Hanley Wood wrote, "OSHA's proposed rule would reduce the current permissible exposure limit (PEL) from 100 μg/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter) to 50 μg/m3. Reminiscent of the Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting rule, projects that would exceed the new silica dust limits limit would require the use of special tools, respirators, or other remedial measures."
