One last thing, cordless circular saws tend to have smaller blades, usually about 6 ½ inches versus the more common 7 ¼-inch blades on corded saws. A 6 ½-inch blade is just barely enough to get through a 2x4 at 45°. Any smaller than 6 ½ inches severely limits the capabilities of the tool. There are some 7 ¼-inch cordless circular saws, but they are not as common.

The saw blade of the cs5 is positioned on the left side of the power tool. This means that right-handed users will be placed to the left of the tool when holding it in the correct position and therefore you will have direct line of site of where the blade is cutting. Until you’ve tried this the other way round, you won’t appreciate how useful this is! Having a clear view of where the blade is cutting ensures a more accurate cut all round. Bosch CS5 Case
This saw replaced another Bosch that was dropped 4 feet and landed on concrete. The base plate was twisted and the blade was a quarter inch out of alignment. Repair parts were no longer available for it. Bought this one as I am left handed and was excited to get a left handed model instead of a right sided one. Based on other reviews, I was concerned about the base plate flatness and blade alignment to the baseplate edge. When I set my new one up I found that the baseplate was flat and the blade alignment was spot on. I docked the review one star for two reasons, first, the bevel cut needed adjustment which was easy to do and second, I was disappointment that the saw did not come with either a case or a bag. Bosch CS5 Saw
This product sports a 56 degree bevel cut and a blade diameter of 7-1/4 inches. The depth of cut at 45 degrees is 1-7/8 inches, 1-5/8 inches at 50 degrees and it boasts a level of 2-7/16 inches at 90 degrees. There is a clear view of the cutting site at all times which makes for safer and more accurate applications every time. The devices electrical cord is an optimum length of 9 ft which greatly diminishes the chances of a cord pull out while in use.

All of us who are into construction or woodworking have our own reasons for buying a good circular saw. We may use it for making pieces of furniture, or for heavy duty construction. The main reason, however, still remains the same--we need a circular saw that is not only affordable, but also durable and portable. As such, we require this kind of saw that strikes a good balance in all of the aforementioned criteria.
The Bosch CS5 power circular saw is a great all around tool that is capable and delivers on quality. I used this power saw to help construct a gazebo in the back yard and have brought it on multiple job and its been great, particularly as someone who is right handed and has used other inferior circular saws. The seven and a half inch blade is what I wanted, and the power that this circular saw packs is more than enough to saw through every possible type of wood you could select or encounter. In addition, Bosch has made a circular saw that gives you a great line of sight and is built to last! This is my second circular power saw and I’m counting on it being my last. This is a great saw that has exceeded my expectations. Its a solid power saw that can handle whatever you throw at it. Bosch CS5 Manual

The Bosch CS5 has an anti-snag lower guard which allows you to continue cutting without having to retract the guard, which is a pretty nice feature for seamless transitions or tricky cuts. The most notable feature is that it is a left-blade saw which some people prefer over a right-blade saw whether they are right-handed or left-handed. A left-blade saw with a right-handed person allows the operator to better see their cut-line. However, since the CS5 lacks a dust blower, it might end up as a wash.

Cut through plywood and other pieces of lumber easily using the 7 1/4-Inch 15 A Left Blade Circular Saw from Bosch. It runs on a powerful, high-output 15-Amp motor that reaches no-load speeds of up to 6200 rpm. Featuring a lightweight design, it is easy to handle and operate as you cut through plywood as thick as 3/4 of an inch. The blade is positioned on the left side of the Bosch 15-Amp circular saw, increasing visibility during work. The Spindle Lock allows for quick and easy blade changes using the included wrench, which fits into a built-in storage space. An adjustable bevel and aluminum lower guard enable angled cuts and prevent snags. With conveniently accessible and replaceable brushes, this lightweight circular saw is easy to maintain. The soft handle provides a comfortable grip. Bosch CS5 Rip Fence
Before starting a cut, it is important to set the proper blade depth since it will minimize kickback. The tool is equipped with a depth adjustment lever that will enable you to easily adjust the depth of cut. When the blade is set at 45 degrees, it offers 1-7/8 inches depth of cut. At 50 degrees you get 1-5/8″ maximum cut. The depth of cut at 90 degrees is 2-7/16″. CS5 Bosch
One real complaint; when you're cutting right-handed, the dust is directed right into your shoes and nailbags. The blade-left saw doesn't have a Bosch dust chute accessory available, and this saw really needs one. When you're cutting a post from right to left, the dust is projected straight up, into your face and eyes. Bosch needs a dust chute for the CS-5. I tried the dust chute for cs-10 and cs20, but it doesn't really attach to the CS-5 without major modification. It's a short-coming.
