When I was looking for a circular saw, I was looking for more than something that would make efficient wooden cuts. I was looking for something that would need minimal maintenance, robust, powerful and light enough to bring anywhere I go. This particular saw is by far, the one that meets all those categories. It is extremely lightweight, powerful, and has a pretty solid build to it. Bosch CS5 120-Volt 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw

I love the left side view of the blade and will only buy this style in the future even if I have to accept a complete saw-dusting of my clothes. I spent a good amount of time cutting specially ordered tough 1" Baltic Birch plywood using a Freud 60T blade and the power is fine for about 1" per second. While overall this saw is good for the home user I think the quality is lacking for the more picky. The problem is that there is considerable flex in the platform (even with the set screw adjusted) and there is about 0.5mm of play in the motor shaft which translates into much more play at blade edge. Even at this price such slop in the motor seems excessive. I am admittedly looking for more precision since I am finding a circular saw with a good self made rip fence to be superior to my table saw. If I could make the purchase again I would perhaps look at the Bosch 1677MD to see if the precision is better. Bosch CS5 Dust Collection

Bosch Speed Clean drill bits are code approved and meet OSHA standards for adhesive anchoring. Bosch has engineered the bit using a solid piece of steel with a dust channel milled to exacting specifications. It extracts dust while drilling, creating 25 percent greater drilling speed. Speed Clean is an important part of the PRO+GUARD™ dust system that helps users move toward compliance with the OSHA silica regulation. The bit life is comparable to the life of Bosch Bulldog™ SDS-plus® or Bosch SpeedX® SDS-max® bits. Be sure to watch the video to find out how Speed Clean works. Bosch CS5 Price
As mentioned earlier, one of the things that Bosch boasts about their CS5 is the left blade design. This robust, and simply powerful machine makes it more convenient and easier usually for right-handed users. This feature allows the cutter to have a direct line of sight whenever cutting, which means it is less prone to accidents, and its precision is unmatched. Bosch Model CS5
This saw replaced another Bosch that was dropped 4 feet and landed on concrete. The base plate was twisted and the blade was a quarter inch out of alignment. Repair parts were no longer available for it. Bought this one as I am left handed and was excited to get a left handed model instead of a right sided one. Based on other reviews, I was concerned about the base plate flatness and blade alignment to the baseplate edge. When I set my new one up I found that the baseplate was flat and the blade alignment was spot on. I docked the review one star for two reasons, first, the bevel cut needed adjustment which was easy to do and second, I was disappointment that the saw did not come with either a case or a bag.

The Bosch CS5 power circular saw is a great all around tool that is capable and delivers on quality. I used this power saw to help construct a gazebo in the back yard and have brought it on multiple job and its been great, particularly as someone who is right handed and has used other inferior circular saws. The seven and a half inch blade is what I wanted, and the power that this circular saw packs is more than enough to saw through every possible type of wood you could select or encounter. In addition, Bosch has made a circular saw that gives you a great line of sight and is built to last! This is my second circular power saw and I’m counting on it being my last. This is a great saw that has exceeded my expectations. Its a solid power saw that can handle whatever you throw at it. Bosch CS5 Circular Saw Review

When beginning your search for the best circular saw for you, there is one thing you will notice right away…the distinctions between circular saws aren’t always obvious. You can find one circular saw and think “looks good to me”, and right next to it is another and nothing seems noticeably different. Yet, there is a one hundred dollar price difference. Bosch CS5 Circular Saw Review
The saw worked to perfection, I used it in combination with the Kreg Rip-Cut tool to get great straight cuts on my plywood and longer sections. I used it in concert with a sawhorse and some clamps to get great angled cuts. This tool can essentially replace a table saw and miter saw for "simpler" projects. I would saw that if one had a small budget, that the circular saw should be the first tool that you purchase. It is the tool that gives you the most bang for your buck.
This saw is considered to be lightweight because of components made of magnesium, which makes it balanced and tough during in use. Its powerful motor, which delivers 15A of power, makes it easy for you to cut even the thickest lumber. It also comes with large capacities of bevel and cutting. It can give you a positive stop of 22.5 degrees to 45 degrees respectively. It also comes with LED light, and ruler markings that will allow depth and base guide to make accurate measurements and cuts. It is designed to withstand some abuses, which is compensated by the power cord it comes with. Bosch CS5 Rip Fence
Considering the best circular saw is a little easier than breaking down the incredible number of cordless saws out there, but most brands still have most than one model on the market. We chose only saws that have a 15-amp motor for consideration and went with the newest models from there. We looked at blade speed, watts out or horsepower (where available), bevel capacity and stops, blade orientation, other features, construction, and price. Bosch CS5 Review
I knew this saw was worth buying after I made my first two cuts with it. It has amazing power, and is very precise. I had to adjust to using a left sided saw on my first cut, but after the second I was positive I had purchased an excellent tool. I used to always try to cut in a position that I would be able to clearly see my line. It doesnt make sense to switch boards around or dance around my sawhorses trying to see. I will never have to waste time moving around or leaning over my saw again. The only thing I absolutely hate about the saw is that it does not have any sort of carrying case. I really think it should have come with something considering it wasn't a cheap saw. I don't like having to worry about where I store it in my work van. If it had a nice plastic case I would never have to think twice about where I put it. If it were a junk saw I wouldn't care if it got a little dinged up because I wouldn't expect it to last anyway. A saw of this caliber absolutely needs a case.

One of the best things about the Bosch CS5 Power Saw is its left-blade design. There are a lot of people who do not realize this yet but the main reason why the blade is on the left side is because it will be easier for people, particularly those who are right handed to make use of the blade when they are working. It worked so well for me so I am sure that those who are going to make use of that too will also find it easy. Bosch CS5 Review
While they sound cool and are fun to brag about, I haven’t personally found them more than slightly useful for setting up a cut initially. Not only are they only nominally accurate, but once I’ve begun cutting, I’m too focused on paying attention to the guide on the shoe to really be able to use the laser. Combine that with accuracy problems on the lasers and I personally don’t get a lot of mileage out of them. CS5 Bosch
Cordless tools are all the rage and there’s no doubting their incredible convenience. Cordless circular saws like Makita’s 18V X2 Rear-Handle Saw pack a lot more power than those first models did. But not everyone’s on board with the cordless craze when it comes to circular saws. In fact, you’ll probably see more corded models than cordless in many areas. Why? Reliable power and nearly infinite runtime. Choosing the best circular saw isn’t always easy, and there’s more to consider than just specs. So we got together with our Pros to do the shopping for you with our Pro Tool Reviews Best Circular Saw Buying Guide.
This product sports a 56 degree bevel cut and a blade diameter of 7-1/4 inches. The depth of cut at 45 degrees is 1-7/8 inches, 1-5/8 inches at 50 degrees and it boasts a level of 2-7/16 inches at 90 degrees. The devices electrical cord is an optimum length of 9 ft which greatly diminishes the chances of a cord pull out while in use.
