I bought the CS5 Circular Saw in May of 2015, and after two months of sporadic use the carbon brushes and armature needed to be replaced. It was repaired -- under warranty -- at the Bosch service facility in Anaheim, California. After another two months of normal / typical use, the carbon brushes and armature need to be replaced again. WTF? Is there an issue with the quality of the components Bosch uses for this particular saw? For five months of ownership and use, I expected something a bit more reliable. Not many choices for blade-left circular saws that are affordable, so I'll get this CS5 fixed again while it's under warranty.
The Milwaukee 6394 goes toe-to-toe with Makita – even in price. It falters slightly with lower (but still adequate) cutting depth and doesn’t have a cutline blower. The pivoting handle is compelling, but our team doesn’t think it’s a huge difference-maker in the long run. At the end of the day, it’s a quality choice, especially if you find it on sale.
The overall build quality, ease of use, performance and the ability to do more than any other handheld circular saw makes Bosch cs5 more useful. The left blade design makes it possible through a specific action for the clearest or visible line of sight for right-handed users. This device is made by combining materials and parts with durability in mind. With Bosch quality, this tool will withstand tough job site environment. Bosch CS5 Rip Fence

The bit life is comparable to the life of Bosch Bulldog™ SDS-plus® or Bosch SpeedX® SDS-max® bits. Be sure to watch the video to find out how Speed Clean works. Among the numerous advantages of the circular saw is its efficiency which is prominent. Bosch cordless circular saw occupies the advantage over the reciprocating saw, and that is it shortens the cutting time of the reciprocating saw in half. Whenever the blade of the circular Bosch saw is turning, it is ready to cut. It doesn’t require a return stroke.
Upon realizing this, and in order to assist buyers like myself in choosing the right tool for the job, I came up with this buyer's guide. This particular Bosch saw works perfectly, its easy to change the blades, the plunge depth and the angle of the cuts. I had not issues with any play in any of the settings on the saw (I've had this issue with some other saws which I've used). The saw cuts straight and true and being left-sighted makes it alot easier to see your markings and to make great straight long cuts.

One real complaint; when you're cutting right-handed, the dust is directed right into your shoes and nailbags. The blade-left saw doesn't have a Bosch dust chute accessory available, and this saw really needs one. When you're cutting a post from right to left, the dust is projected straight up, into your face and eyes. Bosch needs a dust chute for the CS-5. I tried the dust chute for cs-10 and cs20, but it doesn't really attach to the CS-5 without major modification. It's a short-coming.

Why worm drive over a traditional circular saw? I’ll tell you why. Because it’s finally affordable to have a circular saw that is super tough and has the torque to make those difficult cuts. Because why choose a weaker circular saw when you can have a workhorse worm drive circular saw for a comparable price. The SKILSAW SPT77WML Circular Saw is a no-brainer really.
If you follow cordless tools, you’ll know that they rarely stay on the market more than a year without some sort of update. But some of the circular saws have been out more than 15 years and are still chewing up wood reliably. While not every saw we looked at takes home a top recommendation, each have their place. Two of the most notable features really play very well with one another. Those are the two LED work lights and the integrated dust blower. Both will allow you to clearly see your cut-line and ensure you are getting the most accurate cut you can. The scales on the shoe and the bevels are easy to read and all adjustments can be made with a single hand.

There is no case to store it in. That was fine with me because I already had a designated spot for it in my cargo trailer. As for the outward appearance, It’s the standard blue shell, red trim and logo, with brushed metal accents. There is no safety trigger. This could be dangerous for children but a blessing to experienced users. I find some safety triggers to be hazardous because you have to focus on squeezing the trigger rather than focusing on the task at hand. Weighing in at 10 lbs., it’s lighter than the old circular saws I was accustomed to. The grip of the handle felt the same as my old saws except for a little rubber padding which was nice. The cord length on this and every other corded tool in history is too short for many typical tasks but that’s what extension cords are for. The sound of the saw is the same piercing scream and wind-down that we all love. There is no electric brake.

This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new conditions. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. This lightweight Bosch 7-1/4-Inch circular saw delivers 15 amps of power and a left blade design for the clearest line of sight while cutting. Anti-snag lower guard lets you make cuts without having to advance the guard, even while making bevel cuts. Bosch CS5 Manual

Before I made the decision to buy the Bosch CS5, I first did some research regarding which are the top electric circular saw in the market. I looked everywhere. I watched videos on YouTube, read product descriptions and reviews, and I even read the feedbacks the customers who purchased the product. According to one customer, he was more than satisfy with the Bosch CS5 not only in terms of its build, but also its performance. Bosch CS5 Review

This is a great feature because often we assume once we’ve released the trigger the saw is no longer running and therefore no longer dangerous. It’s really easy to put your hands in the wrong place or to set the saw down while the blade is still moving, and that’s an ugly scenario. An electric brake will drastically reduce the chances of this happening.

But therein lies the only significant con of a corded circular saw, the cord. This means you’ll be limited as to where you can do your work by the maximum length of your extension cord. Normally, this isn’t much of a problem but when it is, there is next to nothing you can do about it. A good extension cord will also add to the overall cost of the saw you purchase unless you already have one.

The second disadvantage is where your body will be positioned if there is a kickback. With a right blade saw generally your body will be off to the side of the saw, reducing the chance a kickback will hit you. With a left blade saw, you move the blade closer and so your body is more in line with the saw if it kicks back. Also, on a left blade saw, your left arm will have to cross over the top of the saw blade if you are cutting with your right hand on the trigger. Bosch CS5 Case
"The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration today announced a proposed rule aimed at curbing lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America's workers. The proposal seeks to lower worker exposure to crystalline silica, which kills hundreds of workers and sickens thousands more each year.
You can also make bevel cuts (angled across the edge of the wood) by adjusting the bevel settings on your saw and plunge cuts. With a little practice, you’ll even be able to manage miter cuts (angled across the face of the wood) and if you really feel like stretching your limits go ahead and try making some dadoes, rabbets, and lap joints with multiple passes. When I was looking for a circular saw, I was looking for more than something that would make efficient wooden cuts. I was looking for something that would need minimal maintenance, robust, powerful and light enough to bring anywhere I go. This particular saw is by far, the one that meets all those categories. It is extremely lightweight, powerful, and has a pretty solid build to it. Bosch CS5 Dust Collection
However, some do the job better than others. For instance, some of the 6 ½-inch blade saws may not even make a 45° or better cut through 2x material and even if they had the depth, they may not have the oomph to get it done. There is a rare need to go over 45° but if that’s something you anticipate you could need, then you’ll want to make sure you find a saw with that capability. Bosch CS5 Case

As mentioned earlier, one of the things that Bosch boasts about their CS5 is the left blade design. This robust, and simply powerful machine makes it more convenient and easier usually for right-handed users. This feature allows the cutter to have a direct line of sight whenever cutting, which means it is less prone to accidents, and its precision is unmatched. Bosch Model CS5

A:  If it’s not cutting square this can be a few things. The first to check would be to ensure the bevel is set to 0° on your bevel adjustment. Then check if the blade is secure and not damaged or warped. If all else checks out, then you might need to make a bevel adjustment to return it to square. This video gives a good example of how you would need to do this. Bosch CS5 Dust Collection
