As a deck builder, I use this saw EVERY day, cutting extremely hard woods like ipe and garrapa. This saw, like all 15amp, circular saws can handle the wood and any kind of cut. I use only top quality Diablo blades, and regularly perform finger rips and compound miters without any issues with the motor bogging down and blade deflection. I also regularly have to rip wet PT wood, and this saw handles it all fine. This is a great saw and a great price, the blade-left design provides excellent line of sight when cutting with your right hand. Very lite weight and powerful, with all cast-metal parts and a tape on the foot. I'd like a detent at the common bevel cuts (22.5 and 45) but it's fine without it. Unfortunately, it requires a lot of strength to get the plate back to square (0 degree bevel) Bosch CS5 Review

Whether it’s new construction or maintenance, many jobs require drilling holes in concrete. Selecting the right tool for the job is critical, but making the right choice can be complicated. Types of tools, bit holding systems and drill bit types, as well as nature of the job that needs to be done and availability of electric power – these are some of the variables that need to be taken into consideration. OSHA has proposed regulations that would raise standards of exposure for airborne crystalline silica, also known as silica dust. As Lauren Hunter of Hanley Wood wrote, "OSHA's proposed rule would reduce the current permissible exposure limit (PEL) from 100 μg/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter) to 50 μg/m3. Reminiscent of the Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting rule, projects that would exceed the new silica dust limits limit would require the use of special tools, respirators, or other remedial measures."

Lots of experienced woodworkers name the router as one of most versatile power tools. Workers using a router can shape decorative edges, form raised panels, cut grooves and slots, carve signs, make moldings, rout intricate inlays, trim plastic laminate and veneers, and mill dozens of woodworking joints, including rabbets, dovetails and mortises. And while the best router is handheld for most operations, it can also be mounted in a router table, creating a small stationary shaper.
One real complaint; when you're cutting right-handed, the dust is directed right into your shoes and nailbags. The blade-left saw doesn't have a Bosch dust chute accessory available, and this saw really needs one. When you're cutting a post from right to left, the dust is projected straight up, into your face and eyes. Bosch needs a dust chute for the CS-5. I tried the dust chute for cs-10 and cs20, but it doesn't really attach to the CS-5 without major modification. It's a short-coming. Bosch CS5 Circular Saw
“Great power, won’t bog down even if you’re slightly off a straight line. This saw will rival your giant framing saw and save your arm due to it’s lower weight. Too early to tell how all the adjustments perform and how the table holds up to pro use, but early signs look great! I bought this saw for precision work since the blade is on the left (I’m right handed), but it instantly became my daily use saw; my framing saw is resting!” Bosch CS5 120-Volt 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw

I knew this saw was worth buying after I made my first two cuts with it. It has amazing power, and is very precise. I had to adjust to using a left sided saw on my first cut, but after the second I was positive I had purchased an excellent tool. I used to always try to cut in a position that I would be able to clearly see my line. It doesnt make sense to switch boards around or dance around my sawhorses trying to see. I will never have to waste time moving around or leaning over my saw again. The only thing I absolutely hate about the saw is that it does not have any sort of carrying case. I really think it should have come with something considering it wasn't a cheap saw. I don't like having to worry about where I store it in my work van. If it had a nice plastic case I would never have to think twice about where I put it. If it were a junk saw I wouldn't care if it got a little dinged up because I wouldn't expect it to last anyway. A saw of this caliber absolutely needs a case.

The proposal seeks to lower worker exposure to crystalline silica, which kills hundreds of workers and sickens thousands more each year. CS5 Bosch

This is the price (excluding shipping and handling fees) a seller has provided at which the same item, or one that is nearly identical to it, is being offered for sale or has been offered for sale in the recent past. The price may be the seller's own price elsewhere or another seller's price. The "off" amount and percentage simply signifies the calculated difference between the seller-provided price for the item elsewhere and the seller's price on eBay. If you have any questions related to the pricing and/or discount offered in a particular listing, please contact the seller for that listing. Bosch CS5 Dust Collection
But therein lies the only significant con of a corded circular saw, the cord. This means you’ll be limited as to where you can do your work by the maximum length of your extension cord. Normally, this isn’t much of a problem but when it is, there is next to nothing you can do about it. A good extension cord will also add to the overall cost of the saw you purchase unless you already have one. Bosch CS5 Saw

The saw has good run out (the blade doesn't wobble), has plenty of power and will cut a perfectly straight line freehand using the blade mark on the base. If you try to use a guide like a square, the front and rear corners of the base cause the saw to deviate from a straight line. If they would have put a descent plate on this saw, it would be a 5 star.
